A Soothing Adventure on a Jamaican Legend
The Martha Brae River, as per a Jamaican Legend, was named after an old Arawak witch named, Martha Brae.
Martha Brae lived on the banks of the Matibereon River.
Spanish treasure hunters heard tales of Arawak gold and captured Martha Brae to force her to lead them to this treasure.
Martha Brae led the treasure hunters to a cave where she was able to hide and vanish. The Spaniards were trapped and engulfed by the river.
The river has been referred to as Martha Brae ever since.
