Antigua Island Location

Antigua is roughly 87 kilometers (54 miles) in circumference, with an area of 281 km² (108 square miles), and had an estimated population of about 69,000 as of July 2006. It is the largest of the Leeward Islands, and the most developed and prosperous due to its upscale tourism industry and education services, including two medical schools.

Hurricane season runs from June through November. The most likely week for a hurricane to hit is in the middle of September, but there have only been six direct hits to the island in the last 50 years. Although it is unlikely that a hurricane will strike while you’re on island, we do recommend travel insurance to protect your vacation.
