Barbados has more to offer than just sun, sea, and beach.
You can do as much or as little as you like on your Barbados vacation. Here are some other activities to try:
Tennis is available at a number of hotels and resorts; call for pricing.
Hiking is a great way to see the island. Hike Barbados leads free hikes through cane fields, gullies, tropical forests, and coastal communities. Visit www.barbados.org/hike.htm for more information.
Cycling allows one to take in the island’s breathtaking views and enjoy the wonderful climate. Bicycles can be rented at several locations around the island, including the Cruise Ship Terminal. Highland Adventure Centre (246-431-8928) offers a 12-kilometer mountain bike tour with a stop at a local rum shop.
A horseback tour through the countryside is also offered by Highland Adventure Centre (246-431-8928).
If spectator sports are more your style, you might enjoy an afternoon at the Garrison Savannah, where horse races take place throughout the year. Street vendors, parades, and picnics make this an event for the whole family.
Cricket is the national sport of Barbados, and you can catch a game almost any time. Check the schedule for an International Test Match or One-Day at Kensington Oval, or an exciting First Division match.
Polo is also played at a high level on Barbados. Contact the Barbados Polo Club (246-432-1802) for details.
