Charter operators offer full day, half day, and sunset sails that usually include snacks and/or lunch, drinks, and snorkel gear. Day sails can take you to the world-famous baths in Virgin Gorda – a must see!

Renting a boat is another excellent way to explore St. Thomas and nearby islands, tan, swim, and snorkel. Boat rental operators will provide directions and advise you on the best places to visit, or you can hire an experienced captain for the day. The Virgin Islands have been host to world-record fishing in recent years. Compete with the locals for record marlin, or stay closer to shore fishing for snook or bone-fish by setting out on a captained boat. Experienced guides will show you the best spots. The waters around St. Thomas also beckon surfers, windsurfers, and kite surfers. Surfing season is November through March, and Hull Bay is the best spot, but keep in mind that only a few windsurfing shops have short and long boards for rental. Windsurfing and kite surfing offer another opportunity to take advantage of the brisk tradewinds. You can rent gear by the hour or for the day, and take lessons right on the beach.
