Disney World’s Airport
Did you know Disney World Florida use to have it’s own airport in the actual park? It was called, STOLport. Matter of fact, the runaway is still there.
December 28, 1972 was the airport’s last flight.
STOLport’s runway was actually magical.
In the early ’70s, Disney World had an airport, STOLport, with a magical runway where Mouse One use to land. You can still see Mouse One in the backstage tour of Hollywood Studios. CaribbeanDays, an Authorized Disney Vacation planner can take you there to see it!.
Even a few small craft passenger planes used this runway for a short time.
But that runway held Disney magic. The pavement was grooved to literally play “When you wish upon a star” when driven over at roughly 45 miles per hour. So guests landing and taxiing in on their planes were instantly welcomed by Disney magic.
Mouse One can still be scene in a backstage tour of Hollywood Studios. Caribbeandays is ready to make that magic happen!
