Locomotive No. 1 is named Walter E Disney, No. 2 is named after Lillian Disney (Lilly Belle), No. 3 is named after Roger E. Broggie who acquired the trains for Disney World Railroad, No. 4 is named after Roy Oliver Disney.
December 1, 1971, Disney’s Steam Train, locomotive #4, the Roy O. Disney, began operation in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Walt Disney loved trains. So much so, that he built a miniature railroad in his own backyard called the Carolwood Pacific Railroad. It had 2,615 feet of track, including trestles, loops, overpasses, and even a tunnel. Lilly, his wife, would not allow Walt to run the train through her flower beds!
