Halloween in the Caribbean, If You Dare!
When we think of the Caribbean Islands, we think of a paradise of sun and fun and plan our vacations that way.
Tucked away in Nevis is the Eden Brown Estate. The estate was established in 1740 by James Browne, Sr. and operated as a sugar mill enterprise.
The property was sold to Edward Huggins and further grew the sugar mill enterprise into a plantation.
Edward Huggins greed found him in legal trouble and eventually stood trial in 1817 by England for his cruelty he imposed on his slaves. The findings of his treatment of people were such a landmarked event that it made history in Nevis and spawned the movement of the enslaved people to enact the 1833 Act of Emancipation.
The plantation was mired in sin and abandoned after a murder that was said to have been caused by the treatment of the slaves and a slave mistress.
To this day, the estate is haunted by the ghosts that cannot find rest!
