Jamaica’s Rockland Bird Sanctuary
The Rockland Bird Sanctuary is located up a mountain in Montego Bay. It is said to have been founded by a “bird trainer” who moved to this remote area in the hills of Jamaica in the early 1900’s. She would take daily strolls through the hills admiring and feeding the exotic species of birds.
This “bird trainer” would take daily strolls and feed the birds. The birds started following her back home and designated her home, a safe zone. Before she knew it, her home became their favorite hangout spot. Her home is now known as the Rockland Bird Sanctuary.
Watch how these sweet hummingbirds will perch on guests fingers to feed from a bottle!
