Urgent – Guests that have ever stayed at Marriott International Hotel Group
November 30, 2018 news of a vast data breach of 500 million records of guests’ were exposed on guests of Marriott International Hotel Group. The records exposed included: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passport numbers, loyalty program account information and reservation dates. In addition, 327 million guests had encrypted payment card information exposed.
CaribbeanDays’ guests can rest assured that we do not store personal identifying data of guests in any online database. CaribbeanDays respects our guests privacy and does not keep any databases on guests’ travel, financial information, or personal identifing information of any type in any of our databases. CaribbeanDays has been in business since 1991 and we never found a need to store this information.
Our newsletter has the email addresses of guests that opted in to receive it. But those email addresses are not coupled with any other identifying information and is always left in our guests’ control to opt out.
CaribbeanDays does have databases. But we only store villa information, island and destination information and our information on tours and adventures. This information is public knowledge on places and activities and poses no dangers if ever compromised in a breach.
We at CaribbeanDays do not feel it is necessary to keep any personal identifying information on our guests because we respect their privacy and are fully aware of the dangers of a breach.
