How to Vacation in St. Martin like a Pro

St. Martin (French) and St. Maarten (Dutch) share a Caribbean Island which is 37 square miles with lovely beaches and gorgeous views.

Having visited the island for the past 28 years I have seen many changes and island growth.

One of my favorite spots on the island is Simpson Bay Beach. It is located on the Dutch side of St. Maarten and is near Princess Juliana Airport. Princess Juliana Airport is nothing like major U.S. airports as it is not open during the night. So don’t let the airplane noise stop you from experiencing one of the most beautiful beaches with the gorgeous sunset views you can find in the Caribbean!

Simpson Bay Beach is home to a large variety of private homes and condos as well at the famous Mary’s Boon Beach Plantation. Mary’s Boon offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with fantastic ocean views.  They do up a great Thanksgiving Dinner as well.

Another great spot for lunch is Karakter’s. Just your ordinary school bus made into a restaurant and beach bar! The food is great and so are the rum punches.  Rub your feet in the sand while you sip on your favorite cocktail.

Lastly, enjoy the emptiness of Simpson Bay Beach because it is never crowded.  You will find locals jogging in the morning along the beach or taking their dogs for a walk but most of the time you will be the only one there or in the water.  It is extremely relaxing.
