The AquaCell at Disney
Did you know that Disney grows 30 tons of the produce served at many of the Disney World’s restaurants? They even breed a large amount of the fish served at their sea food restaurants. There are several high and low density tanks where Tilapia, Sturgeon, Catfish, Bass, and shrimp are bred. The plants and fish are produced together in a hydroponic environment called Aquacell. The fish and plants together depend on each other t thrive.
CaribbeanDays can arrange for you to have a behind the Seeds tour. It is one of the most economical behind-the-scenes tours available Disney World. A Cast Member will take you on a 45-minute walking tour through the greenhouse, some backstage work areas, and a bug room.
Children will love the room where “good” bugs are cultivated and will be thrilled to release the Lady Bugs they receive in a little jar that will take care of the “bad bugs.”
At the Aquaculture tanks, kids and grownups alike will get a chance to feed the fish.
